From the Tupira Surf Club Patron, Justice Nicholas Kirriwom

Sira eliva. Greetings to all our friends visiting us now and reading this message.

It is with great pride and joy that I welcome you to our recently established web page, the source of all information, advice, queries, answers, comments and chat that you need or seek concerning Tupira Surf Club.

We are a family of over 20 different villages and hamlets stretched along the north coast of Madang between Bunabun and Suaru in the Bogia District, Madang Province who speak four different dialects but share common customs.

The biggest and most popular dialect in Ulingan area is mauwaake and up north along the coast is alaam. The less popular of the four and concentrated also in the Ulingan area are beteka spoken only in Medebur and Toto villages north of Ulingan and aamako spoken in Korak and Tavulte villages in the south.

My greeting to you is in the mauwake language, the language of the location on which Tupira Surf Club stands. Sira eliva or eriva means thank you.

This is an amazing achievement for Tupira in the short period of its existence that we are able to have a website of our own, the source of our identity and the library of our collections of stories, ideas, photos and blog.

I take my hat off to Jamo Borthwick of Coolangatta Queensland whose brief encounter with us during two days of Easter weekend of 2009 had buried in him such deep passion for the place and our people that nothing could prevent him from coming back to the rocky reefs of Meiwok and Sarar, but this time for a much longer attachment.

Having said that, it is my great pleasure to welcome Jamo as the Manager of Tupira Surf Club, who now joins and consolidates our small crew of dedicated men and women on the ground. Jamo fills in the vacuum that existed since the inception of the club.

All enquiries regarding bookings must now be done through Jamo on the email addresses given in this website.

As the Patron, I will speak to you from time to time through a dedicated column given to me by the administrator, on newsworthy information or policy changes if any on our surf management plans.

This webpage is updated regularly. Once the page is fully operational, we hope that your bookings can be done through the web when we are able to avail that service to you for your convenience in booking for your travel.

Please enjoy your visit and leave us your impression. But that is not all; we want to see you at Tupira when you find the time.
